Erling Haaland: Real Madrid interest, Manchester United favourites

Real Madrid have made an enquiry for striker Erling Haaland but believe Manchester United are favourites to sign him, say Diario AS.

The report claims that whilst Los Blancos have made an approach for the Norwegian, they have been put off by his €100m price tag.

Haaland has been in remarkable goalscoring form this season, scoring 26 goals in 18 official matches this season - including a hat-trick against Genk in the Champions League, when he played for just 70 minutes.

Indeed, the Norway international has netted six hat-tricks since May and he has scored 35 goals in his last 21 competitive appearances for club and country.

It is a report similar to a recent one from ESPN FC which said that Barcelona had also registered an interest but the asking price discontinued any advancement.

The 19-year-old was coached by fellow Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Molde and a recent report in Diario AS claimed that if the manager is still in place at Old Trafford come next summer, the striker will be a primary target or Manchester United, while the same report also spoke of Madrid's interest.

Italian agent Mino Raiola will have a significant role in the player’s future but the report outlines how he would be a continuation of Madrid’s recent signing strategy.

Signing young players with a long-term future would follow the path of Rodrygo Goes, Vinicius Junior, Martin Odegaard, Takefusa Kubo and many others for Madrid.
