Lionel Messi to remain on Argentina duty

Barcelona skipper Lionel Messi is in line to remain on international duty with Argentina, for their friendly with Uruguay next week.

Messi scored the winner in Argentina's 1-0 friendly Superclasico win over arch rivals Brazil in Riyadh, as well as completing the full 90 minutes for Lionel Scaloni's side.

Barcelona and Argentina are reported to have an agreement in place on Messi's involvement in non competitive games, however according to reports in Marca, he could stay with the squad for the trip to Tel Aviv.

"If the coach wants me to stay then I can."

Messi's goal early goal secured Argentina's first win over Brazil in over 18 months, however the game was caught up in controversy, as Messi appeared make a silencing gesture towards Brazil boss Tite.

Tite had criticised Messi during the game for successive fouls, claiming that he should have received a booking, however Messi stated in his post match interview that he was unconcerned by the incident.
