Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez rejected Manchester United, Arsenal

Manchester United, Arsenal and Bayern Munich all attempted to sign Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez this summer.

That is according to a report in Cadena Ser which claims the Spain international rejected all three clubs in order to stay in the Spanish capital.

The 28-year-old has spent the entirety of his professional career at Los Blancos – excluding the 2014/15 campaign when he represented Espanyol – and is viewed as a loyal servant at the club.

A report in El Desmarque last month also claimed the Gunners were keen on signing the Spaniard with Italian side Roma and Bayer Leverkusen also holding an interest.

Galician native Vazquez is said to be one of the players who can leave the Santiago Bernabéu in the coming year in order to generate funds for reinvestment elsewhere in Zinedine Zidane’s squad.

Vazquez has started just four of Madrid’s 12 La Liga games to date this campaign and whilst he is not surplus to requirements, he is not irreplaceable in the squad.

Vazquez is said to be valued in the region of €20m by Los Blancos.
