Barcelona have lost their charisma – Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger has criticised Barcelona for not playing as a team and believes the club have lost their charisma.

Wenger was in charge of Arsenal across 22 years and is currently working as a TV pundit, and was speaking in light of Barca labouring to a scoreless draw against Slavia Prague in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

“They're an interesting case,” Wenger told BeIn Sports on Tuesday evening, as cited by Marca.

“They have a history of being a brilliant collective, and Messi was on top of it all to make the difference but today it seems that they play waiting for Messi.

“They were a fantastic team, but they've lost their charisma and they have to wonder about how much they've been affected by their failures in the Champions League (referencing defeats to Roma in 2018 and Liverpool, last year).

“From the outside it seems like they've lost their charisma.”

Barca boss Ernesto Valverde is under renewed pressure with Tuesday's scoreless draw following on from their 3-1 La Liga defeat at Levante on Saturday.

However, the Blaugrana continue to lead the way both in their Champions League group and the Spanish top flight.
