Barcelona slip to frustrating Champions League draw against Slavia Prague

Barcelona have seen their Champions League progress halted by a 0-0 draw at home to Slavia Prague.

A win would have put Ernesto Valverde's side on the brink of the last 16 stage, ahead of rivals Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund.

However, the Catalan side struggled to break down their organised hosts, just as they did in the 2-1 win in the reverse fixture a fortnight ago.

Lionel Messi was the main driving force for the hosts all night, drawing a fine save from Slavia Prague keeper Ondrej Kolar.

The Argentina international was then inches away from finding a breakthrough just before the break, as his whipped free kick came back off the bar.

Barcelona looked to go up through the gears after the break, with Kolar saving well from substitute Sergi Roberto.

Messi tested Kolar again in the closing stages, as another free kick clipped the top of the bar.

But ultimately, Barcelona were unable to find a way through the Czech side's defence, as they wait until Game Week 5 to look to confirm their last 16 place.
