Real Madrid linked to Liverpool defender Andy Robertson

Real Madrid have reportedly identified Liverpool defender Andy Robertson as the long-term successor to Marcelo.

Los Blancos invested €55m in signing Ferland Mendy from Olympique Lyonnais this summer while Sergio Reguilon is currently on loan at Sevilla, following the sale of Theo Hernandez to Milan.

Marcelo has clocked up 493 appearances for Madrid since his January 2007 move from Fluminense, but his form has been waning for the past 18 months.

Now a report in Defensa Central claims they have an ‘exclusive’ on the club identifying Scotland international Robertson as the most ideal replacement for the Brazilian.

Due to the summer incorporation of Mendy and the happiness of Robertson on Merseyside, it seems like quite an outlandish claim that would be highly unfeasible in the short-term at least.

The 25-year-old would likely command a mammoth transfer deal due to his form, with Liverpool having previously signed him from Hull City.
