Atletico Madrid face injury worries ahead of Bayer Leverkusen tie

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is facing injury concerns ahead of their midweek trip to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.

The Argentine coach confirmed that he could potentially have new injury concerns following their 1-1 draw at Sevilla in La Liga this weekend, with Kieran Trippier and Thomas Lemar both withdrawn at half time.

According to reports in Marca, the pair sat out Atletico's recovery session on Sunday, but the early indicators are that they will be fit to travel to Germany on Monday night.

Santiago Arias is likely to be the one to step in for England international Trippier, if he misses out, with Vitolo and Diego Costa on standby for Lemar.

Defensive pair Diego Gimenez and Stefan Savic have both returned to light training, with the latter in line for a place on the bench against the Bundesliga side.

However teenage sensation Joao Feliz is not yet fit to come back in after suffering an ankle sprain a fortnight ago, with a comeback pencilled in for after the international break.
