Barcelona go for Brazil duo Everton, Rodrigo Caio

Barcelona are tracking Gremio forward Everton and Flamengo defender Rodrigo Caio, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

Everton, 23, was top scorer for his nation in this summer’s Copa America tournament and indeed he netted in the final victory over Peru.

Indeed, Everton has netted 63 goals in his career at Gremio and his fine performances earned him a prominent spot in this summer’s squad for their successful tournament.

In August, a report in Radio Marca claimed that Atletico Madrid were optimistic they can tie down a deal for the forward and that they were prepared to wait until January – the end of the campaign in Brazil – to sign their man permanently.

Central defender Caio joined Flamengo in January after having spent the entirety of his professional career at his hometown club Sao Paulo, making 277 first-team appearances and he has won four caps for the Brazil national team.

The defender has previously torn his anterior cruciate ligament and has suffered several fitness issues over the years, causing him to miss out on the 2018 World Cup.

Indeed, in the summer of 2015 it was reported the defender had signed with Valencia in a €12.5m deal but it was reported he failed two medicals and the deal collapsed.
