POST MATCH: Barcelona secure vital Champions League win at Slavia Prague

Barcelona secured a vital 2-1 Champions League win away win at Czech side Slavia Prague.

La Blaugrana skipper Lionel Messi edged Ernesto Valverde's side ahead after just three minutes, as the home side gave away possession in midfield in the opening stages.

Sergio Busquets recycled the loose ball into Arthur Melo, and he fed the Argentinian international to sweep home from close range.

Slavia Prague did have chances to get back intp the game before the break, with Marc Ter Stegen making saves from Lukas Masopust and Peter Olayinka.

With Barcelona unable to extend their advantage, it was the home side that started the second half the stronger, as Jan Boril fired them level from Masopust's square ball on 50 minutes.

However, the La Liga side reacted quickly, and found a fortunate equaliser six minutes later as Olayinka diverted Suarez's close range effort home, from Messi's deep free kick into home side's box.

The hosts did have chances to grab a late equaliser, but Barcelona were able to hold firm, with Ter Stegen, Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet all outstanding in shutting them out.
