Marcelo hails vital Real Madrid win over Galatasary

Real Madrid defender Marcelo praised his teammates for their resilience in their 1-0 Champions League win away at Galatasary.

Zinedine Zidane's side had a host of chances to beat the Turkish side, but in the end Toni Kroos' first half goal was enough to secure their first Champions League win of 2019-20.

The victory pushes Los Blancos into second place in Group A, behind rivals Paris Saint-Germain, and Marcelo admitted that a win in Istanbul was vital for the La Liga side.

"We always give our best in every game.

"But tonight we had to win.

"We created a lot of chances to score, but in the end we had to settle for one goal and three points.

"The win is the most important thing, but we did lack some luck.

"The team kept it's intensity from the start and we have shown tonight that we are improving as a team."

Real Madrid now have a free weekend, following the postponement of their El Clasico clash at the Camp Nou, with home games against Leganes and Real Betis, before they welcome Galatasary to the Santiago Bernabeu on November 6th.
