POST MATCH: Real Madrid pick up first Champions League win of the season at Galatasary

Real Madrid sealed their first Champions League win of the 2019-20 season, with a 1-0 victory at Galatasary.

Los Blancos were not at their best in Turkey, and wasted a host of second half chances to make certain of all three points, with Galatasary Fernando Muslera making a string of saves.

German international Toni Kroos put Zinedine Zidane's side ahead after 17 minutes, after excellent link up play from Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard allowed him to power home his first European goal since November 2018.

The hosts had chances to get back into the game before half time, with Brighton loanee Florian Andone forcing saves from Thibaut Courtois, and Benzema and Federico Valverde calling Muslera into action at the other end.

Real Madrid upped the pressure after the break, but they could not find a way past former Lazio goal keeper Muslero.

Zidane brought on James Rodriguez, Vinicius Junior and Luka Jovic for the final stages to try an force a second goal, but in the end, a one-goal margin was enough to seal the win.

The La Liga giants welcome Galatasary to the Santiago Bernabeu in a fortnight's time, as they look to seal a last 16 place from Group A.
