Joao Felix out for Atletico Madrid for three weeks

Atletico Madrid’s attacking crisis has deepened with fears that forward Joao Felix will miss three weeks with an ankle injury.

A club statement has confirmed that the star forward is set to miss between two and three weeks with a Grade II ankle sprain in what represents a fresh blow to Atleti.

Los Rojiblancos have failed to find the net in three of their last six matches and the Portuguese teenager is one of their leading attacking lights.

“After the doctor’s evaluation will we be able to report better, it did not seem so much at first but then the referee told me that he bent his ankle,” Simeone admitted, as reported by Marca.

“I hope it is as small as possible.”

The 19-year old now looks set to definitely miss out on this week’s Champions League clash at home to Bayer Leverkusen, alongside La Liga Matches against Athletic Bilbao, Alaves and Sevilla.

However, he could be back in time for the away game at Bayer Leverkusen, and the league tie with Espanyol.
