Request to play Barcelona v Real Madrid in Buenos Aires

Argentineans have requested that the postponed El Clasico encounter from this clash be played in Buenos Aires, as outlined by Diario AS.

The report has outlined some Argentine fans proposed that the match be played in La Bombonera after it was postponed from being held in Barcelona on 26 October.

The idea stems from last season’s Copa Libertadores final between Boca Juniors and River Plate being played at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

The match had been scheduled to be played at the Blaugrana’s Camp Nou stadium next Saturday but due to the current volatility of the situation, La Liga asked that the game be reversed to Madrid’s Bernabeu.

That proposal has been rejected by both clubs involved and with such a fluid period of unrest in Catalonia, the most likely option is that the match will now be played in December.

The Spanish FA, as supported by the clubs, have pushed for the date of 18 December but La Liga instead are arguing for 7 December, with the Real Madrid-Espanyol and Barcelona-Mallorca matches, scheduled for that weekend, be played on Wednesday 4 December.

There are fears that a high-level demonstration could take place next weekend and it would be in the best interests of everyone to switch the games for this league campaign.
