Barcelona to offer Ansu Fati bumper new contract

Barcelona are set to offer a new long-term contract to Ansu Fati to increase his release clause at the club to €100m, say reports.

El Mundo Deportivo lead their Monday coverage with the news that the Catalan giants will ‘protect’ the teenage star by offering him a new deal on improved terms.

Fati - born in Guinea Bissau, who now has Spanish nationality and also qualifies to represent Portugal - scored and assisted on his first start for the Blaugrana in their 5-2 win over Valencia last month and his level of performance has generated a great level of excitement.

The fresh report claims the teenager will be retained in the club’s first-team squad for the remainder of the season to allow him to continue to integrate with his teammates and play a role this campaign.

Fati has been called up to the Spain Under-21 squad this week and fears that he would miss five weeks of first-team action by representing the nation at the Under-17 World Cup have been dismissed.
