Barcelona are open to Ivan Rakitic departure in January

Barcelona are considering selling midfielder Ivan Rakitic during the January transfer window.

The Croatian international has been linked with a move away from Ernesto Valverde's side for the last 12 months, after the club stalled on offering him a contract extension this summer.

Rakitic has not featured regularly so far this season, with Frenkie De Jong operating as Sergio Busquets' regular partner in midfield, and the defending La Liga champions are now considering letting him go, according to reports in Diario AS.

The former Sevilla playmaker has consistently stated his desire to remain in Barcelona, but has admitted frustration at not playing as much as he anticipated so far in 2019-20 and the club not finalising his new contract.

Serie A giants were reportedly interested in him during the summer, before they signed Adrien Rabiot, and they could return with a January bid, with fellow Italian side Inter Milan and Ligue 1 champions PSG also interested in him.
