Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos: I wasn’t happy at Real Madrid

Dani Ceballos has revealed he did not enjoy his time at Real Madrid but at Arsenal: “I am very happy and where I want to be.”

The Spain international is on a season-long loan deal at the North London club from Madrid, with it widely believed that he will return to the Spanish capital at the end of the campaign.

However, his latest comments hint that he may decide to leave Los Blancos on a permanent basis at the conclusion of the season due to his lack of playing time at Madrid.

The 23-year-old has already notched up 11 first-team appearances for Unai Emery’s side this campaign having started just 17 La Liga matches across the past two seasons combined.

“Real Madrid are doing pretty good and I know there are several out injured at the moment,” Ceballos responded when asked about his parent club, as cited by Marca.

“I am now at Arsenal and I feel very good. I was clear that I wanted to leave. I have been successful leaving Madrid. Right now I am where I want to be and I am very happy.

“My idea was to go out, play and enjoy football. In the previous two years I had not done so.”

Ceballos is said to have a strained relationship with Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and the Frenchman’s position by next summer could be key for the future of the midfielder.
