Victor Valdes to leave Barcelona role – reports

The future of Barcelona Juvenil A Coach Victor Valdes is under threat due to a high-profile fallout with Patrick Kluivert, say reports.

Diario AS cite a report from Catalunya Radio which claims the former Blaugrana goalkeeper has already told his players of the severity of the situation and admitting he does not know if he will continue in his role.

Kluivert was appointed as Barcelona’s new director of youth football this summer in an off-field shakeup at the club, and holds a great deal of power in the direction of the club’s youth teams.

Kluivert netted 145 goals across 308 games for the Blaugrana between 1998 and 2004, and since his retirement from playing he has held a number of off-field roles in football.

As a La Masia youth team graduate himself, Valdes won six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues in a 12-year career at the Camp Nou between 2002 and 2014.

After leaving Spain he played for Manchester United, Standard Liege and Middlesbrough, with the Barcelona website confirming his return in July.
