Marcelo out of Real Madrid’s clash with Granada

Real Madrid defender Marcelo will miss this weekend’s clash against Granada after suffering a fresh muscular injury.

As reported by El Mundo Deportivo, the Brazilian full-back due to a thigh injury sustained in training and is now set to be ruled out until after the international break.

It is claimed that Madrid’s defensive reshuffle will now see Dani Carvajal remain at right-back with Alvaro Odriozola switched to the left-back position.

Madrid are going through an injury crisis in that position as €55m summer signing from Lyon Ferland Mendy is also unavailable through injury while Nacho Fernandez is set to be out until Christmas after also picking up an injury this week.

Marcelo came on as a substitute in the midweek 2-2 draw with Club Brugge in the Champions League after recovering from an injury but has now suffered a new setback.

Odriozola has not been in the squad for either of Madrid’s recent games against Atletico Madrid or Club Brugge.
