Real Madrid to scout Ajax trio at Valencia clash

Real Madrid are to send a team of scouts to monitor a trio of Ajax players during their Champions League clash at Valencia, say Diario AS.

Central midfielder Donny van de Beek (pictured) is one of the three players to peek Madrid’s interest, along with Hakim Ziyech and Brazilian winger David Neres.

Van de Beek, 22, is a Dutch international who netted 17 goals last season, including the only goal in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Tottenham.

It is said that the Dutch champions value the midfielder at €65m but Madrid do not want to pay in excess of €50m to secure his signature.

Van de Beek’s former Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong joined Barcelona this summer in a €86m switch, while defender Matthijs de Ligt joined Juventus.

The central midfielder has spent the entirety of his professional career at the Amsterdam-based giants and has won international recognition for the Netherlands.

Madrid spent over €300m in transfer fees this summer with Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy, Rodrygo Goes and Eder Militao among the arrivals.
