Antoine Griezmann made mistake with The Decision – Lenglet

Clement Lenglet believes Antoine Griezmann ‘was wrong’ with his decision to hold a TV programme over his future a year ago.

Last summer, Griezmann announced that he would remain at Atletico Madrid via his ‘The Decision’ programme which was produced by Barcelona defender Gerard Pique’s media company.

The show attempted to display Griezmann’s personal life and his conflicted future, where he eventually announced he would sign a new contract at Atleti and reject interest from Barcelona.

However, the 28-year-old was criticised for showing self-indulgence with some believing that the nature of announcing the decision was disrespectful.

One year on and Griezmann eventually did join the Blaugrana from Atleti after his €120m release clause was triggered.

“He was wrong with 'The Decision', but we must only think about the present and the future,” Lenglet told the Tu Diràs program of RAC1, as cited by Diario AS.

“He will adapt to Barça, for his talent and for his quality. He already has scored three goals and has shown a good level, but he can still do things better because he has an incredible talent.

“The Champions League? I signed with Barça to win titles and the Champions League is a very good title and surely one of the best that can be won in a football race. I would like to lift it and I think we have a team to fight to win it.

“Inter? The Champions League is always a good test. Inter is the first match at Camp Nou, the second Champions League after a draw in Dortmund, which left us feeling bittersweet because we got a point, but I think we could do more. It's an important game.”
