Lionel Messi, Ousmane Dembele return to Barcelona training

Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele have both trained with Barcelona ahead of their midweek Champions League game with Inter.

As reported by El Mundo Deportivo, the pair – who missed Saturday’s 2-0 La Liga victory at Getafe – are both involved in the first-team squad training, although there is no sign of teenager Ansu Fati, who also sat out the league win.

Messi started against Villarreal last week – his first start of the campaign – after struggling with a calf problem during pre-season.

The 32-year-old then missed the Blaugrana’s trip to the southern Madrid suburb on Saturday.

The Catalan giants did not rush Messi back from injury earlier this season – he sat out the first four league games of the season before appearing as a substitute in the matches at both Borussia Dortmund and Granada.

However, Messi had appeared off the pace in those games and whilst he started the victory over Villarreal on Tuesday night, he was replaced at half-time.

Dembele pulled out of the squad to face Getafe late on with a fresh muscular injury, but it is said to have been more of a precaution.
