Gerard Pique calls for Barcelona club unity

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has called for the club to unite together in the coming weeks.

The former Spanish international confirmed that members of the first team squad attended a dinner last week, with confidence high amongst Ernesto Valverde's squad for the season ahead.

"I did not organise the dinner, but it went very well, as they always do.

"We have to be together as a club.

"That includes players, fans and the board of directors.

"We know what is being said about the club in the media, but we must stay united.

"When there is no anger, there are no stories to write about for some media.

"We do not want any arguments, all we want to do is focus on winning and we will continue to ignore those that look to create problems outside of the club."

Barcelona edged past Getafe in a 2-0 La Liga win, as they moved back up to fourth in the table, with a midweek Champions League clash against Inter Milan on October 2nd.
