Real Madrid’s Marcelo ruled out of Club Brugge tie

Real Madrid defender Marcelo will miss the Champions League clash at home to Club Brugge in midweek.

The Brazilian international has missed the last four games with Los Blancos, due to a hamstring injury, he picked up in training, and he will now miss his second Champions League game of the season.

Ferland Mendy is also sidelined through injury, with Zinedine Zidane likely to deploy utility defender Nacho Fernandez or Alvaro Odriozola at left back against the Belgian side.

The club held a light training session following their 0-0 derby draw at Atletico Madrid, with Marcelo absent alongside long term absentees Brahim Diaz and Marco Asensio.

Luka Modric has missed a sizeable chunk of the season due to injury, made a return from the substitutes bench against Diego Simeone's side is also set to return to the starting XI.

Spanish international Isco also completed a full training session, and Zidane is set to recall his to the match day squad.
