Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid played out an uneventful scoreless draw at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday night.

It was a game of few chances with neither side creating a clear-cut opportunity on goal throughout and both sides appearing to settle for a share of the spoils.

The result takes Zinedine Zidane’s side back to the top of La Liga after having being disposed of the position by surprise early package Granada earlier on Saturday evening.

Atleti are now up to third – behind Granada on goal difference – but now just have one victory from their last five matches in all competitions after a bright start to the campaign.

The result also means that both sides have kept three successive clean sheets in La Liga, although each may be slightly concerned by their lack of genuine attacking threat throughout.

Eden Hazard – one of a number of players in their first Madrid derby – was the notable struggler, failing to make any impact in the game and eventually being replaced by James Rodriguez.

Thomas Partey was the standout performer for the hosts, who have still to beat their cross-city rivals in their Wanda Metropolitano home.
