Manchester United want Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele

Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele is a January transfer target for Manchester United, according to The Independent.

The 22-year-old – who scored eight goals in 29 La Liga games last season and has been capped 21 times for his country – is not a guaranteed first-team starter at the Blaugrana.

Antoine Griezmann has joined this summer in a €120m deal while youngsters Ansu Fati and Carles Perez have also impressed in attacking roles this season, alongside the continued presence of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

In addition to this, the Catalan giants have made a concentrated effort to re-sign Brazilian star Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain in recent times.

The France international netted 14 goals across all competitions last season but had been restricted to just 20 starts in La Liga and failed to sustain a run of games without further injuries.

Dembele, 22, has endured two campaigns blighted by injury at the Camp Nou and it has been reported that there is growing frustration over his continued fitness issues.

Manchester United are short of striking options with Romelu Lukaku sold this summer and Alexis Sanchez loaned out.
