Athletic Club Bilbao are ‘happy but calm’ as they top La Liga after five rounds of action, midfielder Unai Lopez has explained.
The Basque giants are undefeated in the opening weeks of the campaign - winning three games and drawing twice, while conceding just one goal.
They have already claimed the scalp of Spanish champions Barcelona, Basque rivals Real Sociedad and saw off another regional rival, Alaves, on Saturday.
“We are happy, just as all Bilbao is, but we know it is very early,” Lopez is cited as saying by Marca.
“It is too early to draw conclusions and we must not rush. It is time to be calm, to continue working as we have done before and not to look beyond the next game.
“This week is very important because there will be six points at stake.
“We have only conceded one goal and that is because we have a brutal defence. They show it every weekend and everyone sees it.”
Athletic travel to Leganes on Wednesday night before hosting Valencia on Saturday.
