Diego Simeone: Atletico Madrid goals will come

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is not concerned following successive La Liga games in which his side failed to score.

After falling to a 2-0 defeat at Real Sociedad last week, Los Rojiblancos were held to a 0-0 draw by Celta Vigo on Saturday.

It means Los Rojiblancos have netted just five times in their opening five league games – of which three came in the one game against Eibar – with an early flying start being derailed in recent weeks.

“I get the feeling that is normal to start the season with peaks and troughs,” Simeone told reporters after Saturday’s goalless draw.

“There are moments when you get lots of goals and then there are other games when you struggle to get goals, this is normal and is part of the game.

“We hope that we can get back to that clarity because we are getting ourselves into situations when we can score but we are shooting off target.

“We have had corners, we have had counter attacks…we have had everything!

“We need to increase our attacking intensity which does not mean speeding things up, goals come through you wanting to score them. I am sure that we will find the goals.”
