Kieran Trippier: I never experienced anything like the Atletico atmosphere

New Atletico Madrid full back Kieran Trippier has revealed he has ‘never experienced’ anything like the atmosphere at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The stadium - which only opened in 2017 - staged the final of the Champions League last season and was electric on Wednesday night as Atleti fought from two goals down to draw with Italian champions Juventus.

Goals from Juan Cuadrado and Blaise Matuidi had appeared to put the Old Lady in control of the game in the second half, but Atleti fought back in the last 20 minutes.

Stefan Savic and Hector Herrera were both on target for Simeone’s side - who were eliminated from the competition by Juve last year - to earn an unlikely point.

“We didn’t stop, we didn’t change, we kept on going, we always believed,” Trippier told The Guardian, as cited by Marca.

“It shows great mentality to pull it back against a fantastic team. Since I came here, the mentality of the group, the coaching staff, Cholo [Diego Simeone]: it’s immense. In training it’s 100 miles an hour, never stop, and we do the exact same in games.

“When we went 2-0 down we knew we’d get opportunities. We kept on going and going. And the crowd were fantastic as well – I’ve never experienced anything like it.”
