Robert Moreno wants Ansu Fati to represent Spain

New Spain national team manager Robert Moreno has confirmed a deal is being worked on to bring FC Barcelona forward Ansu Fati into the La Roja fold.

16-year old Fati has caught the eye so far this season, scoring on two goals in three appearances, and Moreno confirmed that the RFEF are looking at deal to bring the Guinea-Bissau born striker in.

"The issue of Fati is one that I am aware of.

"The Federation are working on a potential deal to bring him in.

"From there, it will be there the player's decision on what he wants to do."

Fati is yet to make an underage international appearance for any of the three countries he is eligible for, Guinea-Bissau, Spain and Portugal (who offer citizenship to Guinea-Bissau citizens)..

The teenager moved to Spain as an eight year old, and would have to wait until he is 18 to apply for Spanish residency, as per the current ten year rule.

However are reports in Spain that Fati's father, who has lived in Spain for over a decade, could apply for Spanish citizenship, in order to fast track his son's progress into Spain's underage ranks.
