Ferland Mendy looking for improvement

Real Madrid's summer recruit targeting an improvement, say AS.

Left back Ferland Mendy remains autocritical of ways to maximise his stay at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The report says the defender, who in the last three seasons in the French Ligue 1 division with Lyon, has played 117 matches with almost 10,000 minutes on the field, and now is looking to improve his form for the Whites.

In spite of this, the 24-year-old starred in Madrid's last outing - the 2-2 entertaining draw at Villareal.

The player only just returned from an injury to his right thigh and had just a week of training under his belt before returning to the pitch for match duties.

The report investigates that Mendy capped an all around performance - showing great defensive solidness and giving 45 succesful passes out of 51, with 31 of the 51 passes jn the opponents half. The player also recuperated six balls throughout the match.

However, the player remains cautious when speaking with the press after the game, stating: "I completed my defensive duties well but there were some things I wasn't happy about from an attacking perspective.

"I know that I can give more and be more precise when it comes to crossing the ball for a team mate."

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has seen enough of the youngster in his short time in the capital to have trust in him- keeping out fans favourite and Brazil defender Marcelo.

A down-to-earth lad with an eye on fine tuning - Mendy has all the hallmarks to make it big at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
