Spain in good hands, says Alba

Jordi Alba has faith Spain have the right man on the bench in Robert Moreno, while Paco Alcacer commended the work done by the Coach after the Romania win.

Alba, Alcacer and Saul Niguez spoke to reporters following the 2-1 victory, secured after Alcacer added to Sergio Ramos’ penalty opener, with a late Florin Andone goal and a Diego Llorente red card giving the hosts hope of a point.

“We’ve played a great game. We suffered enough. It’s a difficult place to come but we’re happy. We’re in good hands with this coaching staff,” Alba said, AS reports.

“There’ll be changes for the next game. All 23 [players in the squad] have the capacity to start.

“Luis Enrique? You have to give everything to him. It’s a huge misfortune.”

Alcacer and Saul were asked about Moreno’s tactical approach, with Saul noting his partnership with Fabian Ruiz in midfield and Alcacer explaining the team’s attacking plan.

“More directness is needed and that’s what the Coach has asked of us at all times. We’re happy with the work done by the coaching staff and with the opportunities we created,” the Borussia Dortmund striker said.

“It’s a shame because we had a lot of chances but the goals were resisting. I’m happy that I scored, and grateful for the confidence.”

Saul added that he found the fixture a challenge, but enjoyed playing with Ruiz.

“It was a very difficult game. Romania at home was very complicated, and we knew in the last minutes that they were dangerous,” he continued.

“Fabian and I have been asked to work and give shape to the team. These things are good for the team.”
