Atletico Madrid’s Nikola Kalinic on the verge of AS Roma loan

Atletico Madrid forward Nikola Kalinic will join AS Roma on loan before the transfer window closes.

The Croatian international has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital, after being told by manager Diego Simeone that he is not part of his first team plans this season, however no deal has been reached.

According to reports in Marca this weekend, the former Fiorentina striker will return to Serie A before the European transfer window closes on September 2nd.

The deal between Atletico Madrid and AS Roma will include a purchase option of €8M at the end of the 2019-20 season.

The 31-year old has enjoyed two previous spells in Italy, with Fiorentina in 2016-17, before being loaned to AC Milan for the 2017-18 campaign, prior to joining Simeone's side in June 2018.

AS Roma boss Paulo Fonseca is short of attacking options, with Stephan El Shaarawy joining Chinese Super League side SN Shenhua and Patrik Schik on the verge of a move to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
