West Brom’s Oliver Burke to join Alaves

West Brom winger Oliver Burke is set to join Alaves on a season-long loan deal, according to reports on Friday.

Baggies boss Slaven Bilic has said that the Scotland international will join the Basque club on a season-long loan deal, although West Brom possess an option to recall the player in January.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Celtic, where he netted four goals in 14 appearances for the Scottish champions.

However, despite the Midlands club failing to win promotion back to the Premier League last season they have sanctioned his departure to La Liga.

Burke joined the Baggies in a landmark £15m deal from RB Leipzig two summers ago after spending a season in the Bundesliga, where he initially moved from Nottingham Forest.

Burke – who has won seven caps for the Scottish national team – had been viewed as one of Britain’s highest-rated young stars but he has failed to find continuity in his playing time in recent years, with this the latest move.
