FC Barcelona call up teenager Ansu Fati for Real Betis clash

FC Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has included 16-year old forward Ansu Fati in their squad to face Real Betis.

The defending La Liga champions are suffering an injury crisis in attack, with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele all ruled out for tonight's visit of Real Betis to the Camp Nou.

Fati has caught the eye for Victor Valdes' Juvenil A side, after moving from Sevilla CF's youth set up two years ago, and the Guinea-Bissau born player is included in the 18-player squad.

If he does make an appearance he will become the second youngest ever player to make a competitive appearance for FC Barcelona – behind Vicente Martinez, who played in the 1941-42 season aged 16 years and 278 days – 20 days younger than Fati.

Club captain Lionel Messi is currently fifth on the all time youngest ever list, making his debut at 17 years and 114 days old in 2004.
