Javier Tebas hits out at ‘prehistoric’ Spanish FA

La Liga president Javier Tebas has hit out at his counterparts at the Spanish FA’s “prehistoric vision of our sport.”

The two football organisations have been at loggerheads over a number of issues, most prominently including playing La Liga games on Friday and Monday nights.

“Mainly they are questions of competition and power,” Tebas told France Football, as cited by Marca, when quizzed over the ongoing disputes.

“The new leaders do not understand how the current industry works and the needs of investors, who demand growth and want to see that their assets generate value.

“They (the Spanish FA) have a prehistoric vision of our sport.”

Tebas also spoke on the European Super League proposals: “They are politicians and sportsmen. Above all, we must try to stop this madness of the reform of the European Super League, because all the work done in recent years would be seriously affected.

“They would have a sport and enormous economic power. Then, at the national level, we have to solve our problems with the Spanish Federation, either by negotiated agreements or through the courts.

“Without clear solutions it will be difficult for us to pursue development strategies as we have done so far.”
