Kieran Trippier hailed for Atletico Madrid impact

Kieran Trippier’s early impact at Atletico Madrid has been hailed by Marca who claim he is ‘the face of a new era’ at the club.

The report describes how the Englishman’s first-team debut saw him ‘fit like a glove’ into Diego Simeone’s side, particularly as he provided the assist for Alvaro Morata’s goal.

“He was good and that meant that it was a good game,” Simeone told reporters after the match.

“Although Trippier showed encouraging performances in our pre-season, it is not the same in pre-season as when you play league matches.”

The report highlights how Trippier provided 24 assists in 114 first-team appearances for Tottenham, before his €20m transfer to the Spanish capital this summer.

However, it is claimed that Atleti believe they can increase these numbers with the significance of full-backs this season thought to be prominent.

Trippier has replaced Juanfran in the defence of Los Rojiblancos and his encouraging start could well be a sign of things to come, with a great deal of excitement around his start to life in La Liga.
