Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz suffers fresh injury setback

Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz has been ruled out of action for the next three weeks due to an abdominal injury, it has been confirmed.

The 20-year-old missed the majority of Madrid’s pre-season with a hamstring injury and whilst no period of absence has been confirmed, such injuries typically take three weeks to recover from, as outlined by El Mundo Deportivo.

Brahim featured in 11 matches last season after joining in a January deal from Manchester City and appears to have a bright future at the club.

Indeed, the youth international started four of their final five La Liga games last season, quelling reports that he would be allowed to leave on loan this summer.

“Following the tests carried out today on our player, Brahim Diaz, taken by the Real Madrid medical department, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to his right anterior rectus. His recovery process will continue to be assessed,” read a Madrid statement.

Diaz may have featured more for Madrid in the coming weeks with injuries to Eden Hazard and Rodrygo Goes while Luka Modric has a three-match suspension.
