Portu ruled out of Real Sociedad La Liga kick off

Real Sociedad midfielder Portu will miss the club's first game of the 2019-20 La Liga season through injury.

The 27-year old who completed a €10m transfer from relegated side Girona this summer has been ruled out of action until early September, due to a calf injury he picked up in training.

Manager Imanol Alguacil was set to hand him a starting place in the first game of the new campaign, away at Valencia CF, after impressing during pre-season.

Alguacil is set to be without three other first team players through injury, as he prepares his side to head to the Mestalla this weekend.

Defenders Diego Llorente and Aritz Elustondo have already been removed from first team training, as they continue to recover from injuries picked up during the pre-season campaign.

There is some positive news for the Basque side however, with key pair Willian Jose and Asier Illarramendi both passed fit to face Marcelino's side this weekend.
