Sevilla sign Monaco midfielder Rony Lopes

Sevilla have completed the signing of Monaco midfielder and Portugal international Rony Lopes, the club have confirmed.

A statement on Wednesday confirmed the midfielder penned a five-year contract at the Andalusian club

Born in Brazil, Lopes spent his youth career at Benfica and Manchester City but joined Monaco in 2015 and, aside from a season on loan at Lille, has spent the time since at the club.

Lopes move to Sevilla coincides with the deal which takes striker Wissam Ben Yedder to the Ligue 1 club – with his valuation of €40m from his release clause perhaps lowering the transaction in real terms.

Sevilla have previously made ten signings this summer including Munas Dabbur, Diego Carlos, Jules Koundé, Joan Jordán, Sergio Reguilón, Lucas Ocampos, Fernando, Luuk De Jong, Nemanja Gudelj and Óliver Torres.

Lopes arrived in Seville airport on Monday and underwent his medical examinations on Tuesday ahead of completing the transfer.

The player has netted 21 goals and provided 14 assists for Monaco across the past two campaigns for the club.
