Gareth Bale returns for Real Madrid pre-season finale

Gareth Bale returned to the Real Madrid squad for their final pre-season game ahead of the 2019-20 season.

The Welsh international continues to be linked with a move away from the La Liga giants before the transfer window closes on September 2, however he was given a substitute appearance by Zinedine Zidane in their Mabel Green Cup final defeat to AS Roma.

The 30-year, who is yet to start a pre-season game this summer came off the bench with the score at 2-2, he scored his spot kick during the penalty shootout, however Brazilian international Marcelo missed his to hand the Italian side victory.

Bale was left out of the squad for Real's first pre-season game against Bayern Munich, before returning for the matches with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid, either side of Zidane confirming that the club were actively looking to sell the former Tottenham man.

He then missed the following two friendly games, against former side Tottenham, Fenerbahce and RB Salzburg due to a minor injury problem.

Real Madrid kick off their La Liga campaign with a trip to Celta Vigo on August 17.
