A court decision on the start date of La Liga will not be made until the week of the first scheduled matches, report El Pais.
The proposed match between Athletic Club Bilbao and Barcelona at the San Mames was originally scheduled for Friday 16 August, but the Spanish FA have tried to ban matches on Friday and Monday nights in the division.
A court in Madrid has now deferred making a decision on the governing body’s authority to overrule La Liga – who want to maintain the time slots – until Monday 12 August.
All La Liga clubs, with the exception of Real Madrid, have backed the league “against the invasion of rights” from the Spanish FA.
La Liga president Javier Tebas had initially responded: "The actions of the RFEF around fixtures are generating confusion in the international broadcast schedules for La Liga games.
“This potentially affects the league's revenue streams in a significant way, and we intend to fight the ruling in the coming weeks.”
Games over those two night slots had proved highly unpopular with fans, but club presidents have now come out to support the league, as they believe the revenue streams are vital, as cited by Marca.
