Barcelona defender Gerard Pique believes Neymar could return to the club from Paris Saint-Germain but it is the Brazilian’s decision.
Neymar left the Camp Nou to go to the French capital in a world record €222m move in the summer of 2017 but the French club are now said to be pushing a sale.
“It has to be him who declares this himself,” said Pique, as cited by Marca, when quizzed about Neymar’s possible return to the club.
“We of course talk to him but they are private conversations. He is fantastic on and off the field. We look forward to see what happens.”
Pique then spoke of Barca’s domestic success and perceived European underachievement: “I agree that league titles are not valued as they should be.
“It is incredible to win eight of 11 league titles and if we focused solely on the Champions League and threw away the league and the Copa, it would be Russian roulette.
“At this club we do things properly, we give ourselves a strong standing in the league to allow ourselves a strong league finish.”
