Lionel Messi has reiterated his ‘total trust’ in the players and coaching staff to deliver success to Barcelona this season.
The Argentine’s speech last season about aiming to win the Champions League did not end well - after their semi-final elimination by Liverpool - but the global star focused on the positives for the club.
“The truth is that it is difficult to say something today after last season,” Messi began his speech by saying, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.
“I do not regret anything. I repeat the same thing as I said last season. I have total trust in this team, in these players and in this coaching staff and I have no doubt that together we are going to fight again for everything.
“Last season it ended up being bitter because of how it happened but we have to remember we won La Liga - the eighth league in 11 years!
“That in any other club would be great. Maybe the courage is not given but this club always fights for everything. This year will not be different. We are with renewed illusions and I hope you arrive in the same way.
“Visca the club and Visca Catalunya!”
