Juanfran Torres joins Sao Paulo

Former Atletico Madrid defender Juanfran Torres has signed for Brazilian side Sao Paulo.

The 34-year old full back left the Wanda Metropolitano in June, after declining a one-year contract extension with Diego Simeone's side, bring to an end nine seasons in the Spanish capital.

He has now opted to sign a season-long deal, with the option of a further year extension, with the Campeonato Brasiliano side managed by veteran boss Cuca.

Juanfran's move to the club is their second big name signing in the past seven days, after announcing the free transfer of Brazilian international Dani Alves.

The former FC Barcelona defender decided to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the 2018-19 season, and had received offers from clubs from across Europe's major leagues, however he opted to return to his native country.
