Levante confirm Oscar Duarte signing

Levante have confirmed the signing of Oscar Duarte on a free transfer.

The 30-year old was released in June by Espanyol, after three seasons at the Catalan side, and had looked set for a return to his native Costa Rican, before Paco Lopez swooped for his services.

Despite never being first choice for Espanyol, he represents an experienced option for Levante for the season ahead, with Lopez looking to improve his defensive options for 2019-20.

Levante conceded 66 goals in the 2018-19 La Liga season, the second worst record in the division, with only bottom of the table Rayo Vallecano conceding more goals.

Lopez has reacted by bringing in Ruben Vezo from Valencia and Jorge Miramon from relegated Huesca as he looks to shore up his back line for the 2019-20 campaign.
