Gareth Bale agent: He is a Real Madrid player – end of story

Jonathan Barnett, the agent of Gareth Bale, has downplayed suggestions that his client will leave Real Madrid this summer.

Speculation has been intense that the Welsh forward will exit the Bernabeu this summer with Zinedine Zidane going on record on his belief that it would be best if the player left ‘as soon as possible’.

Speaking to ESPN FC, Barnett said: “All this frenzy is unbelievable, Gareth is a Real player. End of story.”

The report adds that: “Barnett admitted that it was "unlikely" that Bale will play against Arsenal in Tuesday's ICC clash with Arsenal in Washington DC, but he replied "ask Zidane" when asked how long the situation can continue with the 30-year-old not being considered for selection.”

The fresh quotes follow a report in Sky Sports that Bale will only consider a move away from the Spanish capital should another club match his £550,000-a-week wages.

The Welsh wizard celebrated his 30th birthday last week and is not part of Zidane’s plans at the Bernabeu, while the Madrid fans have turned on him.

Bale has three years remaining on his Madrid contract and earns €17m annually, meaning that he has no strong desire to exit the club this summer despite the wishes of the hierarchy in the Spanish capital.

The former Southampton and Spurs winger scored 14 goals with six assists in 42 competitive games last season.
