Gareth Bale ‘would be welcomed at Bayern Munich’ – Thiago

Thiago Alcantara has confirmed Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale would be ‘welcomed’ at German champions Bayern Munich.

Bayern boss Niko Kovac also called the Welshman ‘a great player’ to potentially open the door for a move with the out-of-favour Madrid forward.

“It is pretty easy to say that he would be welcome at Bayern Munich,” Thiago told reporters.

“We have lost two superb wingers (Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben), two players who have written a lot of Bayern’s history and Gareth Bale plays in pretty much the same position as them.

“So if someone of Gareth Bale’s calibre wants to come here then, as I said, he is a quality player who would be more than welcome here.”

Bayern boss Kovac also directly addressed reporters: “I would like the German journalists to listen carefully to what I have to say.

“Gareth Bale is a great player, he is like other players who are also great players but I cannot tell you if he will play for any club other than Real Madrid next season or if he will succeed at other clubs.

“His situation is one that I do not know nor is it one that I can predict.”
