Antoine Griezmann reveals ‘tears of happiness’ at FC Barcelona move

Antoine Griezmann has revealed his emotional reaction to completing a dream move to FC Barcelona earlier this month.

The French international finally sealed his long awaited move to the La Liga champions on July 12, after they activated his €120m release clause, and he is eager to get started at the Camp Nou.

"I am feeling really good now that I have arrived at the club, he told an exclusive interview with Marca.

"There was a lot of stress at the end to finalise the deal, but once it was confirmed, all I wanted to do was end my holiday and start this new challenge."

Griezmann also dismissed claims that the FC Barcelona squad was split over his arrival, stating that he has been welcomed by his new team mates and the club's staff.

Despite the controversy surrounding his departure from Atletico Madrid, the striker wanted to focus on the opportunities to win major titles in Catalonia in what he has labelled a dream move.

"When the deal was confirmed, I telephoned my father and cried tears of happiness.

"I was so relieved that everything was done and my family was here with me for this special moment.

"I know there will be whistling (of me) when I play back at the Wanda, but that is part of football when someone you love leaves the club.

"It was the same with Real Sociedad when I first returned with Atletico, but I will always have La Real and Atleti in my heart because they gave me so much."

Griezmann has travelled to Japan as part of FC Barcleona's pre season preparations, and he could make his club debut against Chelsea on July 23.
