Real Sociedad to collect €24m from Antoine Griezmann’smove to FC Barcelona

Real Sociedad will receive €24m from Antoine Griezmann's move to FC Barcelona in the coming days.

Griezmann secured his long-awaited move to the Camp Nou on July 12, after the Catalan side paid his €120m release clause from Atletico Madrid.

His former side will now receive a 20% sell-on fee from the deal, as part of the move that brought him from the Anoeta to the Spanish capital back in 2014, for a fee of €30m.

That fee could rise to €32m however, as Atletico look to pursue a case against the reigning La Liga champions over the deal to bring the French international to Catalonia.

Diego Simeone's side are seeking legal advice over claims that Griezmann agreed the move to Ernesto Valverde's side back in March 2019, prior to notifying the club of his desire to leave, and crucially before his release clause lowered from €200m to €120m on July 1.

Imanol Alguacil has been busy in the transfer market so far, ahead of his first ever full season as a manager in La Liga, after being confirmed as permanent boss at the end of the 2018-19 season.

Christian Portu has come in from relegated Girona in a €10.5m deal, with striker Alexander Isak joining from German side Borussia Dortmund for €4.5m and Modibo Sagnan, Alex Remiro and Martin Odegaard also joining the Basque side.
