Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez in Valencia ahead of move

Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez has arrived in Valencia ahead of completing his transfer to the club, as reported by Marca.

The reported fee will be processed at €14.5m and include the permanent transfer of Santi Mina back to Celta alongside a two-year loan deal for central defender Jorge Saenz.

Mina, 23, scored 13 goals in 45 matches this campaign after hitting 15 goals across 38 games last season – and Los Che were said to be reluctant to see the forward, who they signed from Celta in 2015 for €10m, depart.

Valencia only signed Saenz this year from Tenerife – the Spain Under-21 international penned a five-year deal at the Mestalla but will now be included in the transaction to bring in Gomez.

Celta swooped for Gomez from Defensor Sporting for just €4m two summers ago but after a prolific start to life in La Liga his form has been questioned in recent months.

The frontman has netted just four times in his last 18 appearances while the Galician club have struggled in the absence of his strike partner Iago Aspas, who struggled with injuries this season

Gomez has hit 30 La Liga goals in 68 starts since joining from Uruguay in 2017.

Barcelona, Tottenham, West Ham and Liverpool had all been linked to the player.
